3D Design & Production

Course Code: ADS11Q3D

This is a fun, hands-on course where students learn how to design and create 3D models and turn them into real objects using 3D printers.

3D Printing Process

3D Design in TinkerCad

Step 1: 3D Design (3D Application)

We start by bringing ideas to life using 3D software. Students learn the fundamentals of 3D modeling with various 3D applications.

Slicing model in Cura

Step 2: Slicing (Cura)

Next, the 3D model is imported into a slicer program like Cura. Here, we prepare the model for printing by choosing settings like layer height, infill, and supports. The slicer then converts the model into G-code instructions for the printer.

Final 3D printed object

Step 3: Final Print

Finally, the G-code is sent to the 3D printer. The printer follows the instructions layer by layer, extruding filament to build the physical object from the ground up, turning a digital design into a tangible creation.
